Discover your path to healing!

Kathleen Joseph, LMHC, QS

Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m Kathleen Joseph, and my path to becoming a therapist started by witnessing a profound truth: even the most resilient among us carry hidden hurts.

Early in my career, I worked with Division I student-athletes. On the outside, they were high-performing and unstoppable, capable of leveling even the highest feats. But on the inside, many I served were silently carrying the burden of trauma, neglect, and systemic violence.

Those early experiences changed me.

It taught me that strength and suffering often walk hand in hand, and it shaped my lifelong commitment to helping others to heal their deepest wounds.

How This Practice Came To Be

Kathleen Joseph & Associates was born out of a profound realization I had while counseling Division I student-athletes at the University of Florida.

From the outside, the world saw scholarships, championships, and public praise. But behind closed doors, in the safety of my office, these incredible individuals trusted me with a very different reality. I listened as they shared stories of deep emotional neglect, intense family pressure, and lived violence.

Witnessing their struggles revealed a painful truth: so often, the highest performers among us are carrying the heaviest, most complex trauma in a chilling silence.

Those athletes, and the trust they placed in me, inspired me to build this practice. I wanted to create a sanctuary devoted to gentle, deeply respectful, and culturally grounded healing—a place where you can finally lay down the weight of having to appear strong, and just be seen for who you are.

Centering Women Of Color And Community Impact

Many of the women who walk through my door are high-functioning Black and Brown women. Like the student-athletes I served early on, these women are the pillars of their worlds. But what many do not know is that they are exhausted from a lifetime of parentification, carrying immense emotional labor, and always having to be the "Strong Friend."

If that is your story, please know that I hold your reality with the deepest care, never judgment. I know what it takes to carry that weight, and you don't have to carry it alone here.

My vision for this practice goes beyond the individual. Through our one-on-one therapy, healing groups, and my work as a Qualified Supervisor mentoring the next generation of counselors, we are actively shifting how trauma is understood and healed within our families and our communities. When you heal, that healing ripples outward.

Our Trauma-Informed, Body-Inclusive Approach

Your healing shouldn't require you to hurt all over again. That is why I carefully blend Somatic Experiencing principles, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy—to create a path forward that honors your body, your unique pace, and your capacity.

In my practice, you will never be pushed to repeatedly retell painful events or relive your darkest moments just for the sake of it. Instead, we move slowly and thoughtfully together, with a consistent, gentle attention to your safety. We listen to what your body is telling us, respect your boundaries, and build a space where you can gently untangle the past and finally feel at home in your own skin.
